Education
The Louisiana Hotel & Lodging Assn. focuses its educational efforts in two ways – INTERNALLY and EXTERNALLY.
INTERNALLY, the association provides education to its members by providing information, seminars and educational opportunities direct to the membership or through the various city or regional associations. The association can provide seminars and educational workshops on all aspects of hotel operations utilizing industry and university resources, legal advisors and governmental agencies locally and nationwide.
Additionally, through its affiliation with the American Hotel & Lodging Assn. the resources of the AHLA Educational Institute are available to all members. E.I. is the acknowledged leader in educational text books and industry training materials, used worldwide by hotel companies large and small to train and advance their employees. You are welcome to review the many educational materials offerings of E. I. on their website www.ahlei.org. Discounts to members apply.
Should you have the need for some specific types of training, feel free to call the LHLA office at (504) 525-9326 for consultation.
EXTERNALLY, the association supports the notion that public and private, local and state educational institutions should have hospitality industry training in their curriculum to address the growing statewide hospitality industry and to afford educational opportunities to the citizenry so as to advance careers in this dynamic field.
The association has been instrumental through the years in instituting educational programs in high schools and community colleges across the state. In addition currently Northwestern State University and University of New Orleans offers four year B.A. degree programs. UNO also offers a Master’s Degree program.
It became clear many years ago the hotel industry in Louisiana was on a growth path and through these educational venues our citizens can take advantage of this growth and establish a productive career and rise to top management positions achieving to management incomes.
