In Memoriam
Roland Bahan
1932 - 2015
It is with deep regret we announce the passing of a long time and ardent supporter of the La. Hotel & Lodging Assn., Mr. Roland Bahan.
Mr. Bahan owned and operated the Lasalle Hotel in New Orleans for many years. His family opened the hotel in 1924. Mr. Bahan retired in 2004.
Mr. Bahan was everything related to the Louisiana and New Orleans Hotel Assns.,working in every capacity, chairing every committee and serving as President of both Associations twice each. He also represented Louisiana on the American Hotel & Lodging Assn Board of Directors for sixteen years.
He was named to more Boards and Commissions than can be listed, but two notables, Mayor Moon Landrieu appointed him to the first Super Bowl Task Force which secured two early Super Bowls, and Gov Edwin Edwards appointed him to the La. Tourism Development Commission for two terms.
An avid supported of education, Mr. Bahan served as education chairman in the 60s and 70s and Louisiana won numerous national awards from the AHLA Educational Institute.
He was also one of the originators of the creation of the University of New Orleans, Hotel,Restaurant and Tourism Administration program.
Our sympathies go out to the Bahan family. Roland will be missed by them and the hotel industry has lost a true leader.
